Nov 29, 2010 – The Advanstar Automotive Group, a leading provider of integrated media solutions to the automotive aftermarket and collision repair industry, has announced that Motor Age magazine will partner with Pinellas Technical Education Centers (pTEC) to produce technical videos to further the magazine's goal of providing additional training resources to the automotive service and repair industry.

Motor Age and pTEC will work together to create short (five to 10 minute) "How To" videos that will be distributed through the magazine's digital edition, Motor Age How 2, and archived for viewing on its community web site, the AutoPro Workshop. At least one video per month will be premiered and will cover a variety of relevant topics, such as automotive cooling system testing tips, engine misfire isolation techniques, A/C best practices and more.

"Pinellas Technical Education Centers has an excellent reputation for offering training to both secondary and post secondary students.  Public education programs in our field are often overlooked, but the industry demand for qualified entry level technicians is on the rise.  Nationwide, these programs need local support and Motor Age will do all we can to do just that," says Pete Meier, technical editor for the publication.

"I'm excited to work with pTEC as they share their knowledge with technicians around the country who may not have these resources close at hand.  This is a rapidly changing field technically, and it is our goal to provide working technicians with as much information as possible to help them stay current.  The How 2 videos are only one part of a total media approach we are taking to make this information readily available," he adds.

"These videos are a great resource that a lot of automotive classes and individuals will be able to use each day," said Dale Fasenmyer, chairman, automotive department, pTEC Clearwater campus.  "Pete's involvement with our school brings additional help that will directly benefit our program and students.  We are pleased to be a part of this project."

The Pinellas Technical Education Centers (pTEC) is located in Pinellas County, Florida and has two campuses in St. Petersburg and Clearwater.  The pTEC mission is to provide quality career and professional educational opportunities that meet the changing needs of business and industry.  The school offers over 60 different programs and online training opportunities.  For more information or to schedule an interview, contact Cecile Directo, marketing coordinator, at directoc@pcsb.org or phone (727) 538-7167, extension 2033.

Motor Age is the nation's oldest automotive trade publication and part of the Advanstar Automotive Group of publications.  The magazine focuses on the needs of the professional automotive service technician and independent shop owner.  In addition to traditional print, they have established an online community for their readers at www.workshop.search-autoparts.com.  The site offers free resources where technicians can interact with other professionals, stay up to date with the How 2 digital magazine, read current and archived print features, view additional tech tips and videos, and register for upcoming training webcasts.
